Voyage of Discovery with Yacht Charter
Holidays traveling the sea. Dropping anchor when the fancy strikes. Deciding to linger longer than planned in a certain place. Taking time to experience the journey. Taking time to just let the days wane by. Exhilaration of sailing. Leaving one’s ‘normal’ life behind. Fragments of a dream? No – this is what yacht charter can provide.
The process of chartering a yacht is in itself, not a complicated one. Companies specializing in the charter of yachts abound. Some can be small companies, located near yachting ports. Others might be big companies with offices spanning the globe and with yachts in every port of call.
Yacht charter allows one a freedom of movement and discovery which would hardly be available in group tours or other kinds of holidays. Indeed, if one further likes the sea and navigation, it combines the best of both worlds. The most popular destinations for charter yachting comprise much of groups of islands or other scenic locations. The islands of the Caribbean and Barbados, the coast line of Florida, the French Riviera in the Mediterranean, as well as the Greek isles are choice destinations for such trips.
Yachts when chartered come in different forms and shapes. Sailboats are common, but require some expertise, unless a skipper is also crewed in. Catamarans are easier to sail on, and are more popular with those looking for additional space and comfort, for example a family with children or a large group. Monohulls too are well-liked. Power boats are popular close to the coast. More often than not, the people on board will steer the vessel themselves, unless they have ordered a crewed boat. Crewed boats are better for those with little to no experience of yachting, or for those who wish to let go of all ‘management’ considerations and enjoy the trip and holiday. Luxury charter on the other hand, combines crewed yachts with a decidedly upped level of service. Meals and other recreation activities will be taken care of by the crew aboard the luxury yacht.
It is a good idea to gather some information beforehand about yacht charter. The route and destination should also be looked into, as well as considerations such as health vaccinations and others such as travel insurance be brought up to date.
