Taking a Luxury Alaskan Cruise

For a vacation off the beaten path consider a luxury Alaskan
cruise. It could well be the dream vacation you never thought about because
when most people think of a cruise they instantly picture tropical islands
and warm breezes. An Alaskan cruise will show you a side of nature and
wilderness that you may have never new existed.
There are many different ways to experience Alaska via a cruise. You can
charter a small boat that may allow about a dozen people to enjoy the
scenery during a day trip or you can enjoy a multi day trip aboard a large
cruise ship that can carry nearly three thousand passengers. Somewhere in
between these two choices are smaller cruise ships that offer many more
options then the two extremes. With these mid sized cruise ships you can
visit the many different nooks and crannies that the Alaska coast line
offers. There is whale watching, fishing, and small frontier type ports of
call to be had by everyone.
If you are looking for more of a wilderness adventure trip then one of the
smaller cruise ships is the perfect choice. There are all sorts of
excursions to be had that the cruise lines arrange and schedule. You can go
hiking through the temperate rainforests along Alaska coast, watch brown
bears catching salmon, visit the beaches where sea lions raise their young,
or watch whales swim languidly by the ship. For those who want to try their
hand at salmon fishing a cruise may be the perfect chance. An Alaskan cruise
is filled with beautiful scenery, wildlife not seen anywhere else, and
sights that are continually changing.
One truly unique experience of a luxury Alaskan cruise is a visit to a
glacier. There are two unique ways to view a glacier; A glacier walk where
you can take a guided tour across a moving river of ice or watching as
massive chunks of ice calve off the glaciers face and crash noisily into the
sea. This is one sight that creates a sense of awe in all who witness it.
The length of your trip along with the price you pay determines how much of
the Alaskan wilderness you will get to enjoy. If fishing is your thing here
are day charters and short cruises that cater to the sport fisherman. If you
are looking for the full Alaskan experience then a larger cruise ship is the
way to go. No matter what form of boat or ship you choose, your luxury
Alaskan cruise experience is sure to create a lifetime of memories.
