Cheap Air Fare Tickets – Where the Good Deals Are
Who doesn't want to save money on their next plane ticket?
There's not a traveler alive who isn't constantly on the lookout for cheap
air fare tickets. The problem of finding good travel discounts is all about
basic economics, supply and demand. Simply put the larger the demand for
tickets the more the airlines can charge for them.
Another thing to remember is that what one person considers cheap another
may not and keep looking for an even better deal. It all depends on what one
feels comfortable with as far as price is concerned and what they are
willing to spend. With all this said there are some general characteristics
when it comes to cheap airline tickets.
Most of the times airline fares seem quite pricey, even to the point of
being exorbitantly high. Most people have a common sense meter that goes off
when a price seems too high. One way to keep an eye on airline ticket
pricing is by charting trends through out the year. This is possible now
days with the internet. The intrepid savings conscious traveler can find
historic pricing trends for just about any destination for any time of the
year. By identifying how the air fares raise and lower it is easier to
figure out when the best time of the year to get good discounts are. Of
course, like everything else in a free market the prices may not always be
exactly the same.
The choice of destination can also affect ticket pricing. Places that have
fewer flights usually will cost the traveler more. The reason for this is a
limited number of seats often combined with a high demand. There are also
airport taxes and other travel related fees to consider, and these can vary
between destinations. One way to find travel savings is to go to
destinations that have more than one airport in the vicinity. Many times
competition between airports can drive down air fare ticket prices. It may
be cheaper to fly into an outlying airport and drive to your final
destination instead of to the closer primary airport.
If we look again at the law of supply and demand we can see how it affects
the price of air fares. The peak travel days during a normal week are
Monday, Friday, and Sunday. Because the airlines are full during these days
they can normally charge higher prices. If you can travel during off-peak
times such as Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday you may be able to find cheap
air fare tickets. If you take this one step further and travel in the
evening or at night, which are off-peak times of the day, you can find
savings as well.
One last place you can look are the discount airlines for cheap air fare
tickets. You can find good deals with these no frills airlines, but keep in
mind that you may not get even a beverage service on these types of flights.
